The total investment in Casino Velden is around €14m
The goal is to drive tourism to the Carinthian region

Casinos Austria has announced plans to invest more than €3m ($3.4m) in Casino Velden in 2027. The investment comes on top of €11m already invested since 2022 into technical modernisation, along with the development of the casino and adjacent hotel.

Through this investment, Casinos Austria, which was shortlisted for the Casino of the Year Award in 2026 at the Global Gaming Awards for the EMEA region, is showing a commitment to the casino and surrounding area.

Casino Austria's goal is to secure Casino Velden as a year-round destination for domestic and international tourism to Carinthia, an Austrian state located in the Eastern Alps.

Employing around 50,000 people and generating €2.4bn annually, the tourism industry in Carinthia represents one of the main pillars of the Austrian economy.

According to an economic survey by the Carinthian Chamber of Labour in 2025, the state's economic recovery, following a two-year recession, has been slow. This further development and investment underline Casinos Austria’s vision of Casino Velden as an employer, taxpayer and attraction within the region.

Following the new gambling regulation, Austria will run a tender process for casino locations to prevent operators from only targeting locations like Vienna and Bregenz
