Kangwon Land has conducted responsible gambling training for casino employees at High1 Grand Hotel
The programme focuses on identifying signs of excessive gambling and connecting customers with support services
Additional online training and expert lectures are planned to strengthen employee awareness and intervention capabilities

Kangwon Land has expanded its responsible gambling education efforts through employee training aimed at identifying customers showing signs of excessive gambling. The initiative also focuses on improving access to prevention and counseling services.

The South Korean casino operator conducted the training at High1 Grand Hotel as part of its Over-immersion Gatekeeper Training programme, which focuses on helping frontline employees recognize potential gambling-related harm.

The sessions use case studies to explain behavioral warning signs associated with excessive gambling, allowing employees to better understand when intervention may be necessary.

Participants are also trained in initial response procedures, including how to approach affected customers, explain available protection measures and connect them with professional counseling services through the Kangwon Land Mindful Care Center.

The programme combines in-person instruction with online learning to provide employees with practical guidance that can be applied during daily casino operations.

Kangwon Land also plans to incorporate digital educational materials developed jointly with the Korea Gambling Problem Prevention and Treatment Institute into its internal training platform.

The initiative will continue on November 23 with a lecture by Seo Min-soo, Head of the Education Center at the Police Human Resources Development Institute.

The session will examine excessive engagement in digital environments and the importance of prevention in everyday life and within households, extending the programme's focus beyond casino-based intervention.

Kim Kyung-hoon, Head of the Kangwon Land Mindful Care Center, emphasized that effective customer protection depends on employees who interact directly with casino visitors.

He said the operator would continue improving employee capabilities through practical response training, discussions and lectures delivered by specialists.

The latest initiative forms part of Kangwon Land's ongoing efforts to strengthen responsible gambling practices, with greater emphasis on early identification, employee intervention and access to professional support.

By integrating customer protection training into its operations, the company aims to improve its response to gambling-related risks while promoting safer gambling practices.
