Kansas Entertainment – a joint venture between Nascar and Penn Entertainment – is set to host a groundbreaking ceremony on September 25 to start construction on a new boutique hotel, which will be connected to the existing Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway.
“This is an exciting new addition to our operations in Kansas City,” Penn Entertainment President and CEO Jay Snowden said.
“Significant developments are in process in the area surrounding our property, and this is another organic growth opportunity that aligns with our disciplined approach to further our competitive position in our markets across the country.”
The new boutique hotel will be “financed, developed and operated” by Prime Group US and Shaner Hotels, as well as maintain affiliation with the Tribute portfolio from Marriott Bonvoy.
According to Kansas Entertainment, the new hotel property is expected to launch in 2028 and feature approximately 140 rooms and suites. The boutique hotel will connect to Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway through the gaming establishment’s west entrance.
Kansas Speedway President Pat Warren also spoke on the new hotel site, having said, “This will be an incredible addition to the Village West entertainment district and furthers Kansas Entertainment’s commitment to economic development in Wyandotte County.
“Penn Entertainment has been a fantastic partner and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to the new hotel, where they’ll have convenient access to the casino, speedway and all that the area has to offer.”
While food & beverage offerings and other amenities will be unveiled “at a later date,” confirmed attendees for the groundbreaking ceremony include representatives from the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission and Kansas Lottery, as well as area dignitaries and local stakeholders.
In Iowa, Penn Entertainment hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the operator's new Hollywood Casino Hotel Council Bluffs property on September 14, expected to cost $180-200m and officially debut in 2028.
The operator plans to convert the former Ameristar Council Bluffs riverboat casino establishment into a new land-based facility, featuring approximately 1,000 slots and 25 live table games.
