The Oregon Lottery has managed to generate over $887m in funding for state parks and natural habitats, public schools, veteran services, outdoor school and economic development throughout fiscal year (FY) 2025.
The transferred amount does include $9m in unclaimed prizes, however, but the Oregon Lottery confirmed 12 players were awarded prizes of at least $1m for FY2025, featuring four Powerball and four Oregon Megabucks wins.
Over the course of FY2025, Oregon Lottery players earned nearly $15.9bn in total payouts, accounting for 92% of all Lottery dollars played.
"Playing Oregon Lottery games helps fund critical Oregon programs," Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells said.
"Wins don't just benefit players, they also boost local retailers and contribute directly to local communities."
Despite the notable funding across 2025, the total represents a decrease of approximately $60m from FY2024, primarily caused by administrative savings which were not made available for the current year period.
Oregon Lottery sales commissions also support the retail facilities where such games are sold, as the 3,800 retail lottery shops currently located in Oregon generated $306m in commissions for FY2025.
Since originally launching in April 1985, the Oregon Lottery has contributed close to $16.5bn toward economic development, public education, outdoor school, state parks, veteran services and watershed enhancements.
The Lottery is self-funded through the sale of games rather than tax dollars, while voters and state legislature designate where all contributions are directed.
