The SpinCore Group, operator of the Hard Rock Casino Netherlands online brand, has announced that it received regulatory approval to expand into sports betting.
The regulator KSA approved the extension of its online gambling licence to include sports betting, effective 12 October.
In September, the KSA, renewed the licences of three major online operators: Entain-owned BetCity, Bet365 and GGPoker. They can now continue offering their services in the Netherlands for another five years.
Meanwhile, several other operators secured their rights to continue operating online in the Netherlands in August. These include TOTO Online, Holland Casino, Fair Play, Kansino and Bingoal.
Amid a wave of licence renewals, the KSA also recently published guidance on verifying bank accounts and other payment methods.
The regulator investigated account registration processes and found that operators do not always perform adequate checks. It reported cases of minors depositing funds from their bank accounts
The problem also extends to individuals registered with the self-exclusion register Cruks. As a result, the regulator requires gambling operators to ensure that all player payments can be unambiguously traced to the verified individual.
At the same time, the regulator is seeking a new provider for a gambling helpline operator. It has launched a tender process, as the contract with the current provider nears its end.
At the beginning of the month, the KSA took down 26 websites that imitated licensed operators and directed visitors to illegal gambling services. Meanwhile, there is a growing parliamentary support for proposals to strengthen action against illegal gambling advertising and the digital infrastructure behind unlicensed sites.
Dutch Association of Online Gambling Providers (VNLOK) summoned Meta to court over the latter's dissemination of illegal gambling ads on Facebook and Instagram
