BetBlocker, a charity providing free and anonymous gambling blocking software, has announced the release of Arabic language support for its harm prevention tools, extending access to over 400 million Arabic speakers worldwide.
The launch represents the next milestone in the organisation's ongoing expansion efforts, which have already introduced support for Czech, Catalan, Finnish, French, Italian, Japanese, Serbian and three Zambian dialects.
The charity's language rollout has been driven by evidence showing that users are far more likely to engage with blocking software when it is available in their preferred language.
Arabic ranks as the third most spoken language globally, with more than 5% of the world's population speaking it as a first language - a figure comparable to English.
Commenting on the development, Duncan Garvie, Founder and Trustee of BetBlocker, stated: "With a few notable exceptions, BetBlocker's language support has unintentionally focused on Indo-European languages. Translating has really helped BetBlocker expand its reach, as is evidenced by almost 300k active users supported this year. But this focus has omitted support for some of the biggest communities in the world.
"The launch of our Arabic support is the start of what I hope to be a diversification of the communities that can access BetBlocker's support. We're really excited about this launch and believe that this will help ensure increased numbers of people supported in 2026."
Garvie also went on to thank translator Malek Zitouni for volunteering his expertise to make the Arabic version possible, noting that BetBlocker's reach depends heavily on contributions from supporters who champion its mission.
The announcement builds on BetBlocker's recent partnerships with operators, including AdmiralBet.es, and follows the charity's confirmation in November that it had surpassed 250,000 active users globally.
BetBlocker's software allows users to block themselves from more than 90,000 gambling websites and over 1,500 gambling apps globally
