Rebecca Goodwin has been named as the new Senior Legal Counsel at Entain.
As part of her new responsibilities, Goodwin will lead legal support for high-value and strategically important commercial agreements, while also acting as the line manager to the team paralegal, providing supervision, mentoring and development support.
She has worked in the department as the Commercial Legal Counsel at the operator for five years, joining Entain in February 2021.
In this previous role, she was responsible for providing day-to-day legal support to marketing, technology, procurement and product teams.
Goodwin was also responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, leading legal precedents, advising governance matters and assisting with the new market entry and licensing changes regarding Entain's US joint venture, BetMGM.
On her appointment, Goodwin said: "Excited to build on my current work, support the team and continue developing our legal function. Thanks to everyone who's been part of the journey so far."
Goodwin has an extensive career in several law firms, including Devonshires, Keystone Law and Goodwin Malatesta.
She also worked for Wedlake Bell, an independent London law firm, specialising in residential transactions for developers and high-value individuals.
Entain has made headlines recently regarding legal matters, but perhaps not in the way the company had hoped.
Two former Entain executives, Kenny Alexander and Lee Feldman, appeared in court on 9 December regarding the investigation into the Turkish bribery case.
As disclosed in a previous conference call, Entain set aside £47.7m ($64.15m) for potential penalty fees in the first half of 2025.
So while it seems like the brunt of the investigation is behind Entain, Goodwin will be instrumental in leading the company through the last of the legal proceedings, amongst other matters.
Goodwin previously volunteered with Chelmsford Citizens' Advice Bureau, where she could advise people on the next legal steps they could take
