Ciaran Henry has been named as the new VP of User Experience at BetBlocker, a responsible gambling service that helps users block gambling platforms on their devices.
Henry has extensive experience in the responsible gambling field, first entering this subsection of the industry in 2011 when he was appointed as the Poker and RG Specialist at Rational Group.
He would then transition to PokerStars in 2013, where his career in RG would continue to develop.
His time at PokerStars saw him start out as a Safer Gambling Specialist for a few months, before he became the Safer Gambling Product and Technical Lead.
From 2016 to 2018, Henry worked as a Safer Gambling Trainer at the company, where he travelled around the world delivering seminars to hundreds of employees on best practice, vulnerability and compassion training, as well as core safer gambling principles. He would continue as the Senior Safer Gambling Specialist and Trainer until 2022.
After his time with PokerStars, Henry worked with NSUS Group as its Safer Gambling Manager, Deal Me Out as a Safer Gambling Consultant and also founded the Sensible Gaming Newsletter on Substack.
He would also frequently write about his time as a Teaching Instructor at the National Learning Network on social media, especially noting how he would discuss real-world issues with his students.
His ability to connect with others will be an integral part of his new role as VP of User Experience at BetBlocker, especially as the company continues to expand its customer base and number of countries it offers support in.
On the appointment, BetBlocker posted on LinkedIn: "With the massive growth we've seen in user numbers in 2025, and no signs of that growth diminishing, streamlining our user support processes has become a critical objective.
"Ciaran will lead those efforts for our team. His confident and compassionate approach alongside a deep knowledge of managing user interactions will be a sufficient asset for the project."
Henry was praised by parents, students and colleagues due to his empathetic, yet adult approach to teaching students with autism, ADHD, anxiety or increased vulnerability
