The 2026 BetMGM Premier League Darts competition will be making its return to Newcastle on 5 February, as eight professional darts players will go head-to-head for the chance to win a total prize pot of £1.25m ($1.7m).
To commemorate the return, BetMGM planted a three-metre tall golden dart in front of the Tyne Bridge, with the event set to take place from Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.

“The opening night of the BetMGM Premier League Darts is unique, and we wanted to help build the anticipation this year with an eye-catching display at one of Newcastle’s most iconic locations,” BetMGM Brand Director Dan Towse said.
“Our giant golden dart made a splash in Cardiff a couple of years ago and today’s event in Newcastle’s city centre has made us the talk of the town! The players all seem really excited to have the BetMGM Premier League Darts back, especially with our 18ct gold darts again on offer for any nine-darter. Today’s stunt sets the tone for the energy and entertainment fans can expect from BetMGM throughout the Premier League Darts season.”
The 2026 BetMGM Premier League Darts competition will run for 16 weeks and offer competitors a £30,000 incentive for any nine-darters hit with a set of 18ct gold darts.
In 2025, the incentive was reached five times, equating to £150,000 worth of gold darts presented by the competition’s title sponsor.
The group of professional darts players includes 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts champion Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting and Gerwyn Price among others.

Humphries spoke of his excitement to return to Newcastle, having said, “Newcastle is a really fun place to come for the darts and we’re all excited to get the 2026 BetMGM Premier League Darts campaign underway.
“Seeing BetMGM’s giant dart on the Tyne today with the iconic bridge behind us has set the scene perfectly and I can’t wait to defend the title I won last year, particularly with BetMGM’s 18ct gold darts up for grabs again!”
The Premier League Darts competition is an invite-only tournament running from February to May, including a final play-offs round to determine the 2026 champion.
