Rush Street Interactive’s casino and sportsbook brand, BetRivers, has begun a process of pre-registration in Alberta, anticipating the opening of that market.
BetRivers has been operating in Ontario since 2022 and has now restated its commitment to growth in Canada.
Players in Alberta will now be able to sign up for early access before the Canadian province's iGaming market goes live.
While a conclusive launch date has not been decided upon yet, the regulatory framework has been prepared in advance, allowing operators to formulate their strategies and implement early sign-up processes as BetRivers has done.
Richard Schwartz, Rush Street Interactive CEO, commented: “With an office and large employee base in Toronto and a growing presence across the country, we've been building and investing in Canada for years.”
As such, taking up an active position in Alberta’s nascent iGaming ecosystem would seem a natural next step for the operator.
This announcement coincides with BetRivers’ sponsorship of CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Olympic Winter Games – on this, Schwartz added: “Through our continued partnership with CBC and our Olympic activations, we're showing that we're all-in on Canada for the long term.”
As part of the partnership, CBC will be broadcasting a segment called ‘The Game, presented by BetRivers,' in which sports fans can test their Olympic trivia and try to win prizes.
With Alberta’s launch date potentially arriving in a matter of months, the competition for brand recognition and pre-eminence appears to have started in earnest.
