MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have pledged more than $1m toward responsible gaming initiatives as part of Problem Gambling Awareness Month in March.
The commitment includes $450,000 for a new research project with the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG), focused on examining the impact of sports wagering on player behavior.
The study will run over three years and explore decision-making, risk patterns and prevention strategies across different demographics.
Stephen Martino, Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts, said the investment would ensure the company is guided by “valuable data and insights”.
Alongside research funding, the companies will contribute more than $850,000 in 2026 to state and national organizations working in problem gambling prevention and treatment.
On top of this, MGM will also continue its role as a founding member and sponsor of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling conference.
In the same vein, the companies’ shared GameSense program, developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, is getting expanded from March onward.
This broadening of scope will mean enhanced messaging across casino floors, sportsbooks and digital platforms, as well as an increase in certified GameSense Advisors, now numbering more than 2,000 employees.
A new spring campaign, “Earn More. Play Smart.” is intended to integrate responsible play messaging into MGM Rewards, while BetMGM will continue airing its responsible gaming advertisement featuring ambassador Connor McDavid during major sports broadcasts.
For the sixth consecutive year, BetMGM will also partner with EPIC Global Solutions to deliver lived-experience training sessions for staff
