Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has formally addressed JOI Gaming, operator of the Jacks.nl platform, over a breach of the Netherlands’ rules on untargeted gambling advertising.
The issue arose after the logo of Jack’s Casino land-based venues appeared on the website of the Professional Darts Corporation.
While advertising for land-based gambling is permitted under certain conditions, the presence of a direct link from the logo to the Jack.nl website was found to constitute indirect promotion of online gambling.
Under regulations introduced on 1 July 2025, online gambling operators are prohibited from engaging in untargeted advertising, including sports sponsorship arrangements that could expose broader audiences to gambling content.
The rules are designed to limit exposure among vulnerable groups, such as young adults and individuals at risk of problem gambling.
According to KSA, the display of the logo itself did not breach regulations. However, the embedded link directing users to an online gambling platform crossed the regulatory threshold by effectively promoting remote gambling services in a public, untargeted environment.
Following notification from the regulator, the link was removed promptly. No further enforcement measures have been disclosed at this stage.
KSA reiterated that licensed operators remain responsible for ensuring full compliance with advertising laws, including oversight of third-party placements.
The action against Jacks.nl is the latest in a series of enforcement measures taken by KSA. JOI Gaming was previously fined €400,000 ($464,000) for using role models in promotional material for a 2023 event, while earlier this month KSA issued a record €24.8m fine against separate operator Novatech for providing illegal gambling services to Dutch players.
This is not JOI Gaming's first brush with KSA; the operator was fined €400,000 in December 2025 for using role models in promotional material, and a further €400,000 at the start of 2023 for advertising directed at young people
