Ainsworth Game Technology (AGT) has appointed Birgit Wimmer as a Non-Executive Director, effective immediately and subject to regulatory approvals.

Ms Wimmer currently serves as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Novomatic AG, AGT’s majority shareholder. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Novum Swiss AG and Managing Director of Novo Invest GmbH, a Novomatic holding company in which she holds a 5% shareholding.

Her background includes extensive experience in investment banking, having previously worked with Girozentrale and CAIB Investment Bank in London and Prague. She has also held several non-executive board positions, including roles at ACE Beteiligungsmanagement AG, Casino Bad Ragaz, MCL-Resorts AG, Casino Interlaken AG and Casino Locarno SA.

Ms Wimmer currently holds gaming-related licences across Australia, Europe, Canada and the United States, including approvals from a number of prominent state regulatory bodies. She holds both a Master of Finance (MSc) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

In light of her directorships and shareholding interests within Novomatic and its associated entities, the AGT Board has determined that Ms Wimmer will not be considered an independent director. The company said strict governance protocols will be implemented to ensure she does not participate in matters that could give rise, or be perceived to give rise, to a conflict of interest.

Chairman Danny Gladstone said her extensive international gaming experience would complement the existing board and add value to its deliberations.

Good to know

Wimmer will remain in office until the company’s 2026 AGM, where she will retire and stand for re-election in accordance with AGT’s constitution
