DigiPlus Interactive has reported net income of PHP8.9bn for the first nine months of 2026, as improved cost efficiency helped offset lower revenue amid a weaker macroeconomic environment. The figure included fair value gains from the company's investment in International Entertainment Corporation (IEC) convertible bonds.
Nine-month EBITDA reached PHP8.3bn, while third-quarter EBITDA increased 0.3% quarter over quarter to PHP2.9bn. The quarterly EBITDA margin expanded four percentage points to 22%, driven by more effective advertising and promotional spending, optimization of direct gaming costs and tighter operating expense controls.
Net gaming revenue (NGR) after tax, however, decreased 17% year over year to PHP16.2bn during the nine-month period. NGR reflects the revenue retained from gaming activity after payouts and related gaming costs are deducted from GGR. DigiPlus' NGR after-tax margin against gross gaming revenue improved five percentage points quarter over quarter to 40%. The metric deducts regulatory charges, game provider fees, promotional spending, payment fees, other direct gaming costs and applicable taxes.
User activity continued to grow sequentially, with average monthly active users increasing 3% to 5.9 million. Monthly active bettors and depositors rose 5% to 4.9 million. DigiPlus also paid PHP13.9bn in taxes and regulatory fees during the first nine months.
Digiplus Q3 Financial Performance (PHP M)
“Our first nine months performance reflects the progress we are making in strengthening operating efficiency while building our user base and concent,” said DigiPlus President Ping Chen. “We remain focused on sustainable growth through self-development of compelling content, stronger user acquisitions and retention, and disciplined spending on A&P and investments. Our average monthly active bettor and depositor (MABD) continues to grow and our user retention cohort continues to improve.”
The results come during a period of adjustment for DigiPlus' international expansion plans. In October, the operator withdrew from the final rounds of New Zealand's online casino licensing auction following additional market analysis and an assessment of market valuations. It had previously submitted an expression of interest in August.
Brazil exit follows regulatory shift
DigiPlus is also winding down its Brazilian operation following the country's move to prohibit fixed-odds betting and online gaming. The development came shortly after DigiPlus said its Brazilian platform had begun generating revenue following product adjustments. Brazil nevertheless remained a relatively small contributor compared with its Philippine operations.
The company has maintained that the developments do not change its broader international ambitions. DigiPlus has also been exploring South Africa and appointed Teneo as a strategic adviser in August to support its evaluation of overseas opportunities and risks.
Financially, DigiPlus ended September with PHP11.7bn in cash and cash equivalents, an 11% increase from the previous quarter. This followed PHP3.8bn in dividend payments and a PHP12.2bn investment in IEC convertible notes during the first half.
Domestically, DigiPlus continued expanding its content portfolio, introducing nine self-developed games and five titles based on the Shake, Rattle & Roll film franchise across its platforms.
