Coljuegos, the Colombian Gambling Authority, has confirmed that a further 83 slot machines have been seized as part of the current raids in Barranquilla.

Last week, the Military Police Battalion No. 2 of the National Army seized more than 300 items linked to illicit gambling activities, including 157 slot machines.

This week, 83 slot machines have been removed from six commercial establishments across the city.

Marco Emilio Hincapié, Coljuegos President, said: "We once again dealt a resounding blow against the mafias that operate unauthorized games of luck and chance in the capital of the Atlantic. This is the result of verifications carried out by our Illegal Operations Control team for several months.

"This is the second blow against crime that we have dealt in less than a week in the capital of the Atlantic. Last week, we managed to seize 293 illegal gambling items and dismantled a clandestine slot machine assembler.

"These results have been possible thanks to inter-institutional work. As a State, we are forcefully combating criminal structures that incur in the illegal operation of games and defraud resources for subsidized health."

During the current administration, Coljuegos has recovered and destroyed a total of 12,833 illegal gambling items and machines.

Coljuegos is directly involved in overseeing the destruction of gambling paraphernalia to ensure that it does not return to the streets.

The Authority is particularly strict about illicit gambling activities, as regulated operators contribute to the health sector in Colombia, ensuring that citizens can access the health care they need.

By the end of 2025, more than COP 649.5bn (US$176.8m) had been donated by regulated operators -- with COP 32.8bn coming from the Cundinamarca Lottery alone.
