Coljuegos is the state-authorised regulator of gambling in Colombia, overseeing both land-based and online operations. Established by Decree 4142 on 3rd November 2011, it operates under the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. Coljuegos began its operations on 16th April 2012, assuming responsibilities previously held by various state entities regarding gambling regulation and licensing.
The regulatory body aims to ensure the responsible management of games of chance, contributing to a transparent and robust gaming sector. Coljuegos has reported significant growth in the Colombian gaming market, with revenues reaching 23 billion pesos between January and July 2021, marking a 120% increase from the previous year. The sector's success has enhanced its business environment and public trust, with sports betting representing the largest share of total sales.
Coljuegos is also committed to policing the gambling industry, having conducted operations against illegal establishments and imposing substantial fines. The organisation collaborates with national police to maintain integrity within the sector. Furthermore, Coljuegos has engaged with international partners, such as SiGMA, to promote the potential of Colombia's iGaming industry and its contributions to the national economy.
