A new industry body has been formed in Brazil as the regulated sector continues to mature, with the launch of the National Association of Fixed-Odds Betting Professionals (ANABETT).
Formally registered in São Paulo and headquartered in Salvador, the non-profit entity aims to represent companies and professionals operating within the country’s fixed-odds betting market.
Its creation comes amid ongoing regulatory consolidation, with authorities refining licensing requirements, compliance standards and enforcement mechanisms.
According to the association, its role will centre on technical engagement with the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches, as well as the development of guidelines focused on transparency, operational integrity, anti-money laundering practices and consumer protection.
President Igor Reinan Marques Ramos Costa said the initiative reflects the sector’s need for stronger institutional organization.
“The Brazilian betting market is going through a moment of regulatory maturation. The existence of a representative entity allows for more qualified dialogue with public authorities, strengthens governance standards and contributes to building a legally secure and socially responsible environment,” he stated.
He added that regulatory clarity remains critical to reducing distortions in the market: “Environments with regulatory gaps tend to increase risks, both economically and socially. Predictability and strict compliance with legal requirements are essential to ensure integrity in the sector.”
Beyond institutional representation, ANABETT’s statute outlines initiatives related to self-regulation, technical support for compliance and awareness campaigns aimed at preventing problem gambling and protecting vulnerable groups.
The association also emphasized its intention to support enforcement efforts against illegal operators, which remain a key concern for regulators and licensed companies.
The association will operate nationally, with an initial leadership mandate of three years, positioning itself as an additional governance layer within Brazil’s evolving betting ecosystem.
Brazil’s betting market already includes industry bodies such as ANJL, IBJR and ABC-Bet, reflecting a growing ecosystem of institutional representation
