KCGI Asset Management Chief Executive Cho Won-bok has joined a nationwide relay campaign aimed at eradicating illegal cyber gambling among teenagers, as reported by Chosun Biz.
The initiative, organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, seeks to raise awareness about the growing spread of illegal online and mobile gambling platforms targeting minors. Participants in the campaign deliver a public message warning that “illegal cyber gambling that targets teenagers is a scam crime you can never win,” before nominating the next individual to take part.
In a statement released through the campaign, Cho emphasized the importance of protecting young people from gambling-related harm. “For teenagers, the future of the Republic of Korea, it is more important than anything to escape the temptation of gambling and establish a sound financial mindset,” he said.
Cho joined the campaign after being nominated by Kim Byung-chul, Vice Chairman and CEO of Hanyang Securities. He subsequently recommended Bae Jae-gyu, CEO of Korea Investment Management, to continue the relay effort.
KCGI Asset Management noted that its involvement aligns with its longstanding commitment to youth financial education. Since 2018, the firm has provided programs designed to help teenagers build healthy economic awareness and responsible investment habits. It also manages funds that support children’s long-term asset development and conducts educational initiatives such as youth economics classes and guided reviews of corporate management reports.
Officials say the campaign reflects growing concern over the accessibility of illegal gambling platforms to minors, particularly through smartphones and social media channels, and aims to foster a broader culture of prevention across South Korea’s financial and corporate sectors.
