£3m refurbishment completed at Grosvenor Casino Bolton
New external gaming terrace introduced, first of its kind in the region
Venue expands to 80 slot machines and adds entertainment-led features

Grosvenor Casino Bolton has unveiled a major redevelopment following an investment of more than £3m ($4.06m), repositioning the venue as a multi-purpose entertainment destination in the heart of Bolton.

The refurbished casino, located next to Bolton Market and a short walk from the town's train and bus stations, now offers 24-hour gaming alongside a casual dining option, two bars, live entertainment and private event space.

The operator says the upgrades are designed to appeal to a broad audience, from regular gaming customers to groups seeking a night out.

Among the headline additions is a new external gaming terrace – described as the first of its kind at a North West casino. Built for year-round use, the space is equipped with heating, integrated sound, a widescreen TV and slot machines.

The venue now has 80 slot machines in total, which Grosvenor says represents the largest such offering in the region.

Poker events run seven days a week, and live sport is shown throughout the venue.

Commenting on the development, General Manager Paul Baines stated: “This is a major investment in creating a modern gaming venue which will elevate the experience for everyone, whether you’re a player or a group of friends looking for a great night out.

“We will be marking the casino’s relaunch with a full week of celebrations, and we are looking forward to welcoming both our regular customers and people visiting for the first time.”

To mark the relaunch, the casino will host a week of events beginning 27 April. Highlights include a Vegas-themed evening on 1 May featuring Dolly Parton and Shania Twain tribute acts, a Magic at the Movies night on 2 May, a Sunday prize draw and a local business networking event.

Twenty new jobs have also been created as part of the wider investment.

No membership is required to visit the venue, which has more than 300 parking spaces on site.

The Bolton refurbishment is the latest in a series of developments across the Grosvenor estate. Earlier this year, Grosvenor Casino Thanet added 30 new slot machines and 90 new games following UK legislation permitting land-based casinos to expand their machine numbers for the first time since 2007 – a change that has enabled the addition of more than 850 machines across Grosvenor's UK locations.
