The Australian Turf Club (ATC) has commenced an expressions of interest process to fill two vacant independent director positions, following approval from the Minister for Gaming and Racing, the Hon David Harris MP.
Under section 10 of the Australian Jockey and Sydney Turf Clubs Merger Act 2010, the Minister has authorised the initiation of the selection process. The ATC board, a company limited by guarantee, comprises seven directors, including four elected by members and three independent directors appointed by the Minister on the recommendation of a selection panel.
The selection panel will assess candidates on merit, taking into account their abilities, qualifications, experience and personal qualities relevant to the duties of an ATC director. Applicants must demonstrate experience in a senior administrative role or at a senior level in one or more of the following areas: business, finance, law, marketing, technology, commerce, regulatory administration or regulatory enforcement.
All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a comprehensive probity assessment before being considered eligible for appointment.
The New South Wales Government has reiterated its commitment to diversity and inclusivity on government-appointed boards and committees. It has encouraged applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, particularly women, as part of broader efforts to strengthen diversity within the racing industry.
The ATC said the appointments form part of ongoing governance arrangements designed to ensure effective oversight and strategic leadership across its racing and operational activities.
The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 15 May 2026
