24-year-old administrator arrested in Ranong

Thai cybercrime police have dismantled an online gambling network operating out of Ranong province. Authorities arrested a woman accused of serving as a platform administrator for a site that allegedly processed more than THB72m in annual transactions.

As reported by Khaosod English, the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau executed a court-approved search warrant at a residence in Muang district, Ranong, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old woman identified as Thipsiwan. Authorities seized a computer, mobile phone and internet router as evidence.

Investigators said the gambling website, known as “AM 08,” had been operating for more than two years and attracted over 36,000 members. The platform reportedly generated average monthly transactions of approximately THB6m, amounting to more than THB72m per year. It allegedly offered a range of illegal betting activities, including lotteries, slot machines, overseas football wagering, baccarat, dragon tiger and poker-style games.

Digital forensics revealed that the network repeatedly changed the platform’s name while maintaining its customer database, a tactic police said was designed to evade enforcement efforts and complicate tracing of those involved.

Authorities also uncovered evidence suggesting that the group had previously operated under different names and handled even higher transaction volumes before rebranding as AM 08.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted she had worked as a customer service administrator for more than a year and received a monthly salary of THB15,000.

She has been charged with organizing, promoting or soliciting unauthorized gambling activities through electronic media. Police said investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals connected to the network.
