Key Points
Bally’s online sportsbook will launch in Rhode Island following the conclusion of IGT’s exclusivity period on November 26
The operator’s new contract with the Rhode Island Lottery will carry a five-year term and can be extended for an additional five years

Following approval for an online sports wagering vendor license by the Rhode Island Lottery, Bally’s Corporation will launch its online sportsbook across the state once an exclusivity period held by International Game Technology (IGT) ends on November 26.

Despite offering online sports wagering to residents since 2018, the vertical was exclusively provided through Sportsbook Rhode Island, a platform developed by IGT after securing a partnership with the Lottery.

Bally’s currently operates the only two physical sportsbook facilities in Rhode Island, however, meaning it was already receiving a 17% share of total revenue under the state’s regulatory framework.

IGT had received 32% of the revenue share prior to Bally’s license approval, with the operator now expected to collect 49% of Rhode Island’s total sports betting revenue as a result of its new contract.

The state will continue to maintain its 51% share, while the Rhode Island Lottery’s contract with Bally’s carries a five-year term, and can be extended for an additional five years.

The Rhode Island Lottery began the application process for a second vendor in late 2025, while Bally’s also became the state’s first iGaming operator in March 2024.

IGT signed a new contract extension with the Rhode Island Lottery on January 7, allowing for its continued operation of online and retail sports betting across the state through at least November 2028.

Rhode Island legislators are also currently considering Senate Bill 3118, which would allow for up to six sports betting vendor licenses to be granted by the Rhode Island Lottery. SB 3118 was introduced in March and is still awaiting a hearing from the Rhode Island Senate Labor and Gaming Committee.
