Playtech has announced a “stronger than expected” trading performance for their first quarter of 2026.
As flagged in the supplier’s FY25 trading update earlier in the year, Playtech has shown consistent performance results in the Americas and European markets.
Mor Weizer, CEO, said: "We have made an excellent start to 2026, with strong trading in the first four months of the year reflecting continued momentum in regulated markets, notably the Americas and certain European markets.
"Meanwhile, our partnership with Caliente Interactive in Mexico continues to perform strongly, with the upcoming World Cup representing a significant opportunity to further strengthen Caliente's leadership position in the market."
Additionally, Playtech announced a directorate change as Ian Penrose will step down from the company’s board.
Penrose has held previous senior roles at Weatherbys and Dataworks, and is currently Chairman of Preston North End Football Club.
At the request of the Non-Executive Chairman, John Gleasure, Penrose will remain as Non-Executive Director, Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee until the release of the supplier’s final results for the year, ending 31 December 2026.
Gleasure said: "On behalf of the Board, I'd like to express our thanks to Ian for his invaluable contribution during what has been a period of significant shareholder value creation and strategic transition since his appointment in 2018.
"We are grateful that he has agreed to remain with us until spring 2027 to ensure a smooth transition of his roles. Ian has brought deep global industry experience to Playtech and has always shown total commitment and dedication during what will have been almost nine years of service to Playtech. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
Inspired Entertainment recently formed a new software as a service distribution agreement with Playtech and will provide access to the supplier's portfolio of online sports content to operators worldwide.
Previously, Playtech was embroiled in a feud with Evolution as it stood by its decision to investigate the company in a 2020 report.
Penrose previously worked at the National Football Museum for 14 years
