The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has confirmed that Erika Spiteri Bailey, its Senior Executive of BI & Data Analytics, has been appointed Co-Chair of the InfoStat Working Group of the Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF).
Bailey will serve alongside Anssi Airas, National Police Board of Finland Senior Advisor, as they both offer European regulatory experience.
In this role, Bailey will be responsible for driving co-operation between members and strengthening the group’s direction by taking a data-driven approach to the framework.
The InfoStat Working Group serves as a platform for regulators to discuss the best practices for leveraging and understanding data when it comes to forming decision-making policies.
The group also encourages different regulators to share their thoughts on current initiatives and how the relevant statistical information can be used to support them.
The InfoStat Group is one of the core pillars of GREF, with the others including an Anti-Money Laundering Group, Digital & Innovation, Enforcement and Responsible Gambling.
Each pillar is chaired and represented by different European gambling or legal authorities to ensure that there is fair coverage across countries.
Bailey has been serving the MGA as a Senior Executive for just over a year, but has been with the organisation for almost four years.
Prior to this role, she was the Information Management Officer before being promoted to Information Management Executive.
Before entering the industry, Bailey was a Research Support Officer for the University of Malta; a Building Technologies Assistant for ESI Malta; and an International Officer for UESA.
It has been a data-heavy month for the MGA, as it also recently published a consultation on the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Bailey recently graduated with a Master's degree in MS, Artificial Intelligence from the University of Malta and is Microsoft Certified as a Power BI Data Analyst Associate
