The Virginia Lottery has reported the state’s total casino revenue for May 2026, as land-based gaming properties totaled $108.4m during the monthly period, representing an increase of 26.9%. 

Commercial properties managed to generate $79.6m in revenue from slot machines, equating to 25.4% growth year-over-year, as well as increase table game revenue by 31.4% for a total of $28.7m.

Caesars Virginia led all properties in the state with nearly $38m of revenue for May 2026, representing an increase of 11.6%. Rivers Casino Portsmouth also crossed the $30m revenue mark with $30.2m, marking a rise of 6.6%. 

Hard Rock Bristol and Live! Virginia reported May 2026 casino revenues of $24.2m and $14.9m, respectively, equating to an increase of 5% while Live! Virginia had yet to begin operations during the prior year period. 

The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk property accounted for $1.1m of the state’s total casino revenue, all of which stemmed from slot machine operations.

Virginia’s five commercial properties combined to distribute just over $19.5m in total taxes for May 2026, including $6.5m to their respective host cities and Regional Improvement Commission. 

The remaining funds were distributed between the state’s Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, Family and Children’s Trust Fund and Virginia Indigenous People's Trust Fund. 

The Virginia Lottery also reported the state’s online and retail sports betting activity for April 2026 on June 1, as total revenue increased 15.1% to $64.6m, despite a loss of $416,559 witnessed from land-based operations.

Virginia’s increase in sports betting revenue was assisted by a 0.7% rise in the state’s handle for April 2026, totaling $613.9m and heavily driven by online wagering which accounted for $608.5m and grew 0.8%.
