The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has reported the state’s total gambling revenue for May 2026, as commercial casinos and sports betting operators combined to generate $176.5m, representing a decrease of 5.2%.
Revenue generated by slot machines and table games managed to increase 0.5% to $105.9m, while sports betting revenue decreased 12.6% to $70.6m. Slot machine revenue grew 2.6% to nearly $77.5m, as revenue from table games fell 4.8% to $28.4m.

How have the state's verticals performed since May 2023?
Encore Boston Harbor led all commercial properties in Massachusetts with $63.1m, but still witnessed a fall of 0.4% during May. MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino reported gross gaming revenues (GGRs) of $26.1m and $16.8m, respectively, equating to increases of 2.4% and 0.8%.
Massachusetts' total sports betting handle for May 2026 reached $632.1m, but decreased 3.6% from the prior year period. Online wagering activity accounted for $625m of the state’s total handle, while retail betting generated the remaining $7.1m.
Online operators in Massachusetts managed to produce $70.1m of sports betting revenue for May 2026 – representing a decrease of 12.3% – as retail activity generated $516,483 and fell 37.7%.

DraftKings led all online operators with nearly $34.4m of revenue for May 2026, while FanDuel was a distant second at $20.4m. Fanatics Sportsbook accounted for $7.3m of Massachusetts’ online sports wagering revenue, followed by BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook at $4.6m and $1.7m, respectively.
In March, The Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies in Massachusetts unanimously passed Senate Bill 302, which looks to impose a 51% tax on GGR produced by retail and online sports betting operators.
SB 302 was sent to the Massachusetts’ Senate Ways and Means Committee for further consideration, having previously been considered by the state’s Senate and House in 2025 prior to carrying over to the new year.
PHAI filed a lawsuit in Massachusetts against Kalshi, Robinhood and Susquehanna International Group on April 23 for violating state gambling laws and offering unlicensed sports wagering
