The 13 Palace is preparing to reopen following an extensive renovation and rebranding, with trial operations reportedly scheduled to begin this weekend, marking a new chapter for one of Cotai's most distinctive luxury hotel properties.

As reported by local media, the hotel, formerly known as The 13 Hotel, will initially operate with its existing inventory of 199 luxury suites while introducing an expanded range of dining and hospitality offerings. Room reservations, however, were not yet available through the hotel's official website or major online booking platforms at the time of publication.

One of the most noticeable changes is the property's appearance. The iconic bright red exterior has been repainted gold, reflecting the hotel's new identity as The 13 Palace. The rebranding has also been rolled out across its official website and social media channels.

The ownership transition was confirmed last year after Chang Fu Investment, a company linked to the family of Macau businessman Loi Keong Kuong, acquired the property. According to previous reports, the hotel changed hands for HK$600m (US$76.5m), significantly below its earlier asking price of HK$2.4bn.

Originally envisioned by Hong Kong businessman Stephen Hung as an ultra-luxury destination catering to Macau's VIP gaming market, the project was expected to include a casino but ultimately opened without gaming facilities. Financial challenges led to the hotel's closure in 2020, and the property remained largely inactive until its acquisition and redevelopment under its new ownership.

While maintaining its 199 villa-style suites, ranging from approximately 2,000 to 10,000 square feet, the renovated property continues to offer private elevators and butler service for guests. The hotel also plans to expand its convention and multifunction event facilities as it broadens its focus beyond accommodation.

Originally conceived as one of Macau's most luxurious hotel developments, the property opened in 2018 before suspending operations in 2020 following financial difficulties
