Key Points
PAGCOR has committed PHP 60m (US$976,800) to provide scholarships for 2,000 students from low-income families in Bulacan
The program will support both college degree and technical-vocational education
The regulator also announced plans to fund 10 new school buildings and a provincial sports academy

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has committed PHP 60m to support higher education and technical-vocational training for 2,000 students from low-income families in Bulacan.

The funding will support the Ayudang Hatid ay Tagumpay (AHT) Scholarship Program, with the first PHP 10m tranche officially turned over to the Bulacan provincial government during a ceremony held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Under the initiative, PHP 40m will fund scholarships for 1,000 incoming college freshmen enrolled in four-year degree programs, while the remaining PHP 20m will support another 1,000 students pursuing technical-vocational education.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said the scholarship program reflects the agency's broader mission of ensuring that proceeds from regulated gaming are returned to the public through meaningful social programs.

He noted that PAGCOR was established not only to combat illegal gambling but also to generate revenues that can be reinvested in projects benefiting Filipinos and contributing to nation-building. The scholarship initiative aims to help young people develop the skills and opportunities needed to support the country's long-term growth.

Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando welcomed the funding, saying it will expand access to quality education for deserving students who may otherwise struggle to continue their studies because of financial constraints.

The scholarship program forms part of the government's Bawat Buhay Mahalaga Caravan, which delivers public services and assistance directly to local communities, including initiatives that improve access to education.

Beyond scholarships, Tengco also announced additional investments in the province, including funding for the construction of 10 three-story school buildings and the establishment of the Bulacan Sports Academy, which will provide training opportunities for aspiring young athletes.
