DraftKings and Delta Air Lines have formed a new partnership to introduce a free-to-play in-flight sports contest – SkyPicks – for those currently registered with the sportsbook and the airline’s SkyMiles rewards program.
SkyPicks will become available when flying on Delta’s commercial flights across the US, as new entries can only be made while connected to the airline’s complimentary Wi-Fi service. Once users have entered into a respective SkyPicks contest, however, existing entries can be managed even after landing.
"At DraftKings, we believe interaction with sports shouldn't begin and end with the game itself – it should extend to every moment fans care about," DraftKings CCO Jeremy Elbaum said.
"As we continue elevating the DraftKings Sports experience, we're also exploring new ways to bring fans closer to the action beyond the traditional settings. Collaborating with Delta gives us the opportunity to reimagine what sports engagement can look like while traveling, bringing innovative ways for fans to stay connected to the games they love – even when they’re in the air."
The free-to-play contests asks DraftKings users a series of sports-related questions – such as who will score first, which team will win and a final-score tiebreaker – to compete for Delta gift card prizes.
New SkyPicks contests will be provided by the operator “several times” throughout each week to offer customers multiple chances of entry.
Delta CMO Ranjan Goswami also spoke on the new collaboration, having said, “With Delta Sync, our goal is to create an onboard experience that offers something for every customer – one that’s connected to what customers love on the ground.
“For many of our customers, that includes sports. SkyPicks brings that passion onboard in a fun, free-to-play way, giving SkyMiles Members another way to engage with the games and conversations they love while they fly.”
Those eligible to compete in SkyPicks contests will be provided a link to follow their leaderboard status once the flight has concluded.
