Polymarket Lazio Officially Terminated
Key Points
FC Lazio and Polymarket mutually agree to end their sponsorship deal
Polymarket will pay the club the full amount due for the 2026/2027 season
The termination follows political scrutiny and ADM enforcement action against Polymarket

FC Lazio has announced that it has reached an agreement with Polymarket to terminate its sponsorship agreement. As part of the settlement, the club will still receive the full amount contractually due for the 2026/2027 football season.

The development follows recent political scrutiny of the deal as well as enforcement action against Polymarket by ADM.

The official termination of the agreement was anticipated, as Polymarket branding had already been removed from FC Lazio’s official website and main institutional channels at the end of last month.

Despite the termination, the parties said they maintain a relationship of mutual respect and remain open to establishing a new partnership should the applicable regulatory framework permit it in the future.

Across Europe, numerous countries have restricted or blocked prediction markets, including Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Romania, Switzerland, Poland, the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

The 2018 Italian Dignity Decree imposed a blanket ban on gambling advertising and sponsorships. While Polymarket positions itself as ‘not gambling,’ ADM deemed it a gambling operator when it blocked the platform.

Nevertheless, even licensed betting operators have found ways around these strict regulations through infotainment partnerships.

Bet365 has been particularly active in Italy through bet365 Scores, a sports infotainment platform offering live scores, match statistics and football content.

Operating independently from the company’s betting services, the platform allows the brand to maintain a visible presence without breaching the law. Global Gaming Insider explored Italian infotainment sponsorships in-depth in a recent analysis.

Polymarket is also the exclusive prediction market partner of Serie A. At least for now
