Veikkaus has announced that its Executive Vice President, Velipekka Nummikoski, is leaving the operator and his role on 31 August.
Nummikoski has been with Veikkaus since 2012. He started his journey with the group as the CEO of Finland’s Slot Machine Association (RAY). Later, from 2017, he served as Veikkaus Executive Vice President.
RAY was one of the three gambling operators that merged to form the current Veikkaus in 2017. The other two were the former Veikkaus and Fintoto.
Veikkaus CEO Olli Sarekoski stated: ‘’Velipekka Nummikoski has had a long and highly respected career at Veikkaus and has served in several demanding leadership positions. I would like to warmly thank him for his significant contribution to the company.
‘’I value his extensive experience and his contribution in particular to the development of public affairs, sustainability and communications. I wish him every success in the future.’’
Nummikoski added: ‘’I started as CEO of RAY in 2012, at a time when digitalization was beginning to transform the gambling industry. I have had the opportunity to be involved both in the merger of three companies into the new Veikkaus and in the journey towards a competitive market.
‘’It has been a great privilege to work at the heart of this transformation. Next year, Veikkaus will enter a new era, and at the same time it will also be my turn to move towards a new challenge. My warm thanks to everyone at Veikkaus for the years we have shared.’’
In June, Veikkaus announced roll out the latest version of OpenBet’s Neccton responsible gambling platform across its digital and retail operations.
Veikkaus reported €936.3m ($1.09bn) revenue and €447.2m profit for 2025
