Macau's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) reported 4,478,073 visitor arrivals in August 2026, up 6.1% year-on-year.
Same-day visitors rose 11.7% to 2,853,011, while overnight visitors fell 2.4% to 1,625,062. The average length of stay shortened slightly to 1.0 day overall, with overnight visitors' average stay unchanged at 2.3 days.
Mainland Chinese visitors rose 9.3% year-on-year to 3,561,667, with those traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme up 12.7% to 2,019,744.
The territory surpassed 30 million visitor arrivals on September 11.
Visitors from Taiwan rose 13.7% to 101,282, while Hong Kong visitors fell 5.6% to 643,445. International visitors totaled 171,679, down 9.8% year-on-year, with declines across most major markets: the Philippines fell 18.5%, Indonesia 16.9%, India 17.6%, South Korea 12.6%, and Japan 31.1%.
Malaysia was a rare gainer, up 2.1%, while US visitor numbers edged down 0.4%.
For the first eight months of 2026, total visitor arrivals reached 28,964,737, up 7.7% year-on-year, with same-day visitors up 13.6% and overnight visitors down 0.6%.
International visitors for the period totaled 1,768,596, up 3.4% year-on-year, while the cumulative average length of stay held at 1.0 day.
The arrivals data lands against a mixed picture for Macau's gaming sector. Gross gaming revenue fell 1.2% year-on-year in August to MOP21.89bn ($2.71bn).
