Jon Vlogs, Rico Melquiades, Luqueta and Davi Brito criticized the ban in videos
Their arguments centered on freedom to bet and the risk of a larger illegal market

Content creators who built audiences around betting promotion have publicly criticized the Federal Government's decision to ban licensed betting operators.

In a reaction that spread quickly across social media, videos from influencers Jon Vlogs, Rico Melquiades, Luqueta and Davi Brito lamenting the measure were compiled into a viral Twitter (X) thread titled "Compilation of influencers crying over the end of bets," which drew a wave of mockery.

The creators' arguments differed

Some defended the freedom to bet, others warned the ban would strengthen the illegal market, and some compared gambling addiction with other dependencies.

Brito said people with gambling problems need treatment but questioned whether Brazilians would stop betting simply because regulated platforms cease to operate, a point that mirrors the argument industry associations made in their own joint statement.

At the risk of sounding too surrealistic, streamer Nobru also lamented the ban publicly, saying it affected his income as he was planning a BR300,000 ($57,900) gender reveal party, plus a baby clothes shopping trip in Miami.

A statement titled "the weeping of those who promote betting operators doesn't move me" has since circulated among content creators, financial educators and social media users in response to the videos.

Where is the queen be(t)?

Virginia Fonseca, Brazil's biggest influencer and long the public face of betting sponsorship, has not directly addressed the Government's decision to ban betting and online casino operations as announced she would end her relationship with betting advertising.

Recently, court filings showed that payments under her Blaze contract went to two companies linked to Fonseca, plus a commission to a foreign agency, totaling around BR100m.

The Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (ABERT) has formally warned its members against continuing to run betting advertisements and is considering a lawsuit against the provisional ban
