Flutter Entertainment has appointed Edward Traynor as Interim Group Chief Legal Officer, adding the position to his existing responsibilities as Group Company Secretary from 1 October.

The appointment follows the departure of Don Liu, who informed Flutter’s board on 28 September that he would resign as Chief Legal Officer effective 30 September.

Flutter disclosed the change in a US securities filing and now lists Traynor with both titles on its leadership page. The company has not specified how long the interim appointment will last or announced a permanent successor.

Traynor confirmed his new position in a LinkedIn post. He has served as Flutter’s Group Company Secretary since April 2015, giving him more than 11 years with the operator. His tenure spans a period of international expansion and changes to the group’s public market profile, including its current listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

Before joining Flutter, Traynor held legal and corporate secretarial posts at Vodafone, including General Counsel and Company Secretary from 2011 to 2015.

He had previously worked as a Senior Solicitor for Vodafone and held roles at Irish law firms Eugene F. Collins and McCann FitzGerald.

His earlier career also included a business management position supporting the Chief Executive of Vodafone Ireland.

Traynor's new appointment coincides with a separate leadership change: Dan Taylor took over as Group CEO from Peter Jackson on 1 October.

Taylor’s succession of Jackson follows other changes across Flutter’s operations. Andrew Moore left his FanDuel role in September after nearly two decades with Flutter and its predecessor, while Seema Padman was appointed General Manager of Flutter Entertainment India in August.

Flutter is also navigating commercial and regulatory pressure. Its Q2 revenue rose 3% to $4.33bn, although it reported a $296m net loss and lowered its full-year outlook.

More recently, the operator said a proposed betting ban in Brazil could reduce full-year revenue by $70m and EBITDA by $20m if enacted and if its local operations could not run for the remainder of 2026.
