Allwyn has appointed Fredrik Ögren as Group CTO, placing the former Betsson Group executive in charge of technology strategy across its lottery-led gaming operations.
Ögren reports to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital. His remit covers the development of a more connected technology ecosystem across the group’s markets, alongside improvements to platform capabilities and customer-facing products.
Allwyn said he will work with local market teams and central functions as it expands its digital operations.
The appointment also establishes a new role for Brett Cross, who had been serving as interim Group CTO. Cross becomes CTO, Global Lottery and Deputy Group CTO, reporting to Ögren.
Ögren spent the previous five years as Betsson Group’s CTO. In this time, he oversaw technology strategy and the development of large-scale platforms during a period of international expansion across regulated markets. The company said that experience would support work to connect its systems and develop products across its portfolio.
Commenting on his appointment to the new role, Ögren stated: "I am thrilled to be joining Allwyn at such an exciting stage in its growth journey. Technology plays a critical role in creating great player experiences, enabling innovation and supporting long-term business success.
"I look forward to working with colleagues across the Group to build an even more connected technology ecosystem, strengthen our capabilities and help deliver the next phase of Allwyn's growth."
Kresimir Spajic added: “We're delighted to welcome Fredrik to Allwyn. He brings deep industry experience, strong technical expertise and a proven track record of leading technology transformation across global organisations. His appointment is an important step in building a more scalable technology platform across the Group, helping us deliver even better experiences for our customers and partners.
"I'd also like to thank Brett Cross for his leadership as interim Group CTO and congratulate him on his new role as CTO of Global Lottery. Together, Fredrik and Brett form a strong technology leadership team for the next phase of Allwyn's growth.”
The appointment follows a quarter in which Allwyn reported 27% revenue growth and an 81% rise in online net gaming revenue, supported partly by PrizePicks.
It also comes after the announcement of other recent appointments, including Xenia Olajosova as Group Media Director and Katie Harbron as Director of Games.
Online net gaming revenue accounted for 52% of Allwyn’s total net gaming revenue in Q2 2026
