Neil Banbury has taken over as Managing Director of Flutter Entertainment’s Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG), beginning the role on 1 October after a long career with Kindred Group and its subsequent parent, FDJ United.
Banbury announced the move on LinkedIn, saying he had spent the previous six months away from work and travelling with his family.
He described the UK gambling market as challenging but pointed to SBG’s brands, Flutter’s backing and the experience of its staff as strengths for the business.
Banbury previously worked as Kindred’s UK General Manager from 2018 to 2023, following earlier posts in strategy, financial planning and analysis. He subsequently became interim Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer in 2023 and took the permanent role in April 2024.
Commenting on this time at Kindred, Banbury noted: "This new start closes my Kindred and FDJ chapter. I spent 15½ years there, joining as an analyst and leaving as a member of the executive team.
"I really can't do justice to that experience in a LinkedIn post. Needless to say, I owe a huge amount to the team there for their trust, their challenge and for making it such a fun ride."
The move takes place during a period of significant leadership change at Flutter. Dan Taylor became Group CEO on the same date as Banbury’s appointment, succeeding Peter Jackson.
Banbury also joins after a UK Court of Appeal ruling in favour of SBG overturned an earlier decision concerning direct marketing consent. The underlying dispute remains unresolved and is returning to the High Court for a further hearing.
Banbury began his Kindred career as a financial analyst in 2010
