Holland Casino employees are reportedly unhappy with the nature of the operator's re-organisation
Union De Unie has reported that a number of workers are unhappy with their new roles
The union has requested a range of adjustments from the operator as per employee wishes

Dutch casino operator Holland Casino is facing employee concerns over its ongoing reorganisation, confirmed in June, with trade union De Unie reporting numerous complaints, alongside requests for individual support from affected staff.

Indeed, De Unie said it had warned Holland Casino that numerous employees intended to challenge their proposed appointments. The union said concerns had emerged over the selection process for several positions, with some workers believing it resembled a game of musical chairs. However, it acknowledged that other employees were satisfied with their proposed appointments.

The union also raised concerns about employees being released from their duties during the reorganisation. Holland Casino has since agreed to correct its approach after De Unie argued that affected workers should not be required to use their annual leave during these periods.

De Unie has additionally requested an extension to the objection period for permanent appointments. Under the existing social plan, employees have five days to challenge a decision. De Unie has requested this be extended to 14 days, although Holland Casino has yet to provide a final response to the request.

Elsewhere, trade unions and Holland Casino still need to negotiate the employment conditions associated with the staffing and flexibility project.

The latest update follows earlier communications from De Unie concerning the reorganisation, including calls to halt the process in September and reports of unsuccessful emergency talks. The union continues to represent employees seeking support as the changes progress.

This latest development follows reports of 'stable' H1 income for the operator over the course of H1 2026, reaching €391.2m ($435.1m). Further, in August, Holland Casino also announced that it has secured a five-year online licence renewal in the Dutch market.

In June, De Unie responded to initial redundancies from the beginning of this restructuring phase, stating that they came "as no surprise" but still hit hard for affected staff
