This year, two Monopoly-branded gaming products claimed top honors at the Global Gaming Awards Americas, underscoring the appeal of the iconic board game’s IP within the gambling sector.
Aristocrat Gaming’s Monopoly Big Board Bucks was awarded Slot of the Year, while Galaxy Gaming’s Monopoly Table Game Progressives took home Product Innovation of the Year.
Monopoly’s iconic brand is making waves across the casino industry. The products have expanded across markets while generating attention both inside and outside the gambling sector. This underscores how marketing and product strategies built around nostalgia can prove to be a winning approach. Emotional connection is a common element of brand marketing.
In this case, using Monopoly branding shows how turning nostalgia into a product experience can create commercial appeal and spark conversation.
Galaxy Gaming brings Monopoly to casino table games
Galaxy Gaming's Monopoly Table Games Progressive brings the brand into casino table games, using Mr. Monopoly, random multipliers of up to 10x and progressive jackpot technology to add a branded bonus layer to games such as blackjack.
When launching the product, Galaxy noted that its goal is to attract both regular casino players and more casual players by combining nostalgia with modern table game mechanics.
Galaxy’s Monopoly Blackjack Progressive debuted in January 2026 in London, when Metropolitan Gaming upgraded 19 blackjack tables across four properties. This marked the first Monopoly Table Games installation to go live in Europe. It was also rolled out at other Metropolitan UK venues.
The Monopoly Table Games Progressive also went live in the US, including at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. The supplier further introduced Monopoly Progressives across its four casino properties in Egypt.
In an increasingly competitive market, making players feel something familiar may be just as valuable as the game's mechanics
Aristocrat turns Monopoly into an immersive slot
In April, Aristocrat Gaming brought its slot to casino floors in North America with Yaamava’s Resort & Casino at San Manuel, the first in the US to debut the game. Later in July, Aristocrat installed the first $1 million version of Monopoly Big Board Bucks at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas: an upgraded high-limit version.
As Aristocrat presented it, Monopoly Big Board Bucks infuses nostalgia into gameplay, with the player experience feeling like playing the actual board game, including player-selectable game tokens, Mr. Monopoly, Free Parking, houses and hotels.
The game uses three metamorphic features — Extra Spins, Extra Properties and Extra Houses — that can trigger the Big Board Bucks Bonus. A fourth feature, Free Games, activates when the meter fills.
The game also had its official European debut in April at the prestigious Société des Bains de Mer’s Le Casino de Monte-Carlo. This underscored the global anticipation and momentum behind the title. In terms of international reach, Aristocrat also launched the game across its Puerto Rico casinos.
Casino de Monte-Carlo properly marketed the slot launch. Coinciding with the slot debut, the casino unveiled a Monopoly-themed experience in its Atrium, which ran until mid-May.
The installation itself was highly visual: a giant Monopoly board, oversized pieces, banknotes and a 3-meter Mr. Monopoly.
Nostalgia - a powerful marketing tool
Both suppliers appear to have recognized that evoking nostalgia can be an effective marketing strategy. Across a wide range of industries, brands increasingly draw on fond memories and cultural references from earlier decades to create familiarity and emotional connection with consumers.
And it works. The reason is simple: revisiting positive memories and familiar cultural references evokes feelings of comfort and happiness in humans.
When the products were first unveiled and marketed, reactions to Monopoly’s casino crossover spilled over to social media, with memes, jokes and even praise circulating across Meta's biggest platforms. Thus, it entered a broader social conversation outside industry circles.
By turning nostalgia into an interactive experience, both Aristocrat Gaming and Galaxy Gaming have created products that connect with established casino audiences while also giving more casual players a reason to engage. In an increasingly competitive market, making players feel something familiar may be just as valuable as the game's mechanics.
Now in its 13th year, the Global Gaming Awards Americas has become a major fixture on the industry calendar
