Brightstar Lottery has announced a long-term contract with Lotterywest to supply lottery technology and services in Western Australia.
In November, Brightstar released its 2024 Sustainability Report, the supplier's first since becoming a standalone pure-play lottery operator.
Now, this agreement was awarded following a competitive procurement process and has a potential duration of 19 years. It comprises an initial nine-year term with options to extend for one four-year period and two additional three-year periods.
Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation and Brightstar Lottery Australia Corporation, acting through its Australia Branch, will be responsible for deploying a new central gaming system to support draw-based and instant ticket games. The work includes the replacement of an existing provider's technology with Brightstar's central lottery platform.
As part of the contract, Brightstar will supply 775 new retailer terminals across Western Australia. These include Retailer Pro S2 terminals, as well as associated software intended to support retail operations and back-office functions for Lotterywest.
Colin Smith, Lotterywest CEO, stated: "The replacement of Lotterywest's gaming system is part of our ongoing commitment to modernising our operations to support players and retailers, ensuring ongoing returns to the Western Australia community."
Marco Tasso, Brightstar COO International and Italy Operations, added: "Throughout its 90-plus years, Lotterywest has established itself as forward-thinking lottery, committed to responsibly growing sales and making a positive impact on its communities.
The supplier has been expanding through partnerships, including a new instant games agreement with Sazka and a two-year contract extension with the Texas Lottery.
Recently, Brightstar Lottery agreed to supply 1,200 new terminals to Pan Malaysian Pools, expanding its hardware footprint in Southeast Asia
