Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell 10% year-over-year to MOP21.68bn in October 2026. The decline extended the market's run of annual monthly decreases despite increased visitor traffic during National Day Golden Week.
October's result compared with MOP24.09bn in the same month last year, but represented an improvement from MOP18.06bn in September. Cumulative GGR for the first 10 months reached MOP208.80bn, up 1.6% from MOP205.43bn during the corresponding period of 2025.
The latest figures mean Macau has now recorded five consecutive months of year-over-year GGR declines. Revenue fell 12.1% in June, 8.4% in July and 1.2% in both August and September before October's larger 10% decrease.
The October performance came despite strong tourism numbers during one of Macau's key holiday periods. National Day Golden Week, held from October 1 to 7, attracted 1.14 million visitors, an increase of 15.5% from the previous year.
The first four days alone recorded 751,000 arrivals, averaging approximately 188,000 visitors per day. Increased traffic also benefited parts of Macau's retail sector, although the impact was uneven across businesses.
Macau's tourism recovery has continued beyond the holiday period. The city surpassed 30 million visitor arrivals on September 11, reaching the milestone 22 days earlier than in 2025.
Despite the recent GGR slowdown, the Government said in October that it was maintaining its full-year 2026 forecast of MOP236bn.
Macau entered October with MOP187.12bn in cumulative GGR. Following the latest result, the market requires approximately MOP27.2bn across November and December to reach the Government's full-year target.
