Brightstar Lottery has published its 18th annual Sustainability Report, marking the first such release since the company's transition to a pure-play lottery operation.
The report introduces an enhanced sustainability framework centred on three strategic pillars and six areas of focused action.
The company's updated sustainability approach is structured around 'Empowering Our People,' 'Collaborating with Partners' and 'Preserving the Planet.' These pillars are supported by six operational spheres; employee engagement, human rights, responsible gaming, community engagement, sustainable procurement and climate action combined with biodiversity and circularity initiatives.
Commenting on the report, CEO Vince Sadusky stated: "The 2024 Brightstar Lottery Sustainability Report highlights our ongoing mission to advance lotteries by delivering insights-driven, future ready solutions that bolster our customers, inspire their players and contribute to a sustainable future.
"Along with the evolution of our business, our sustainability strategy was enhanced to focus on our most important stakeholders. This strategy serves as the foundation of our 18th annual report."
Notable achievements highlighted in the 2024 report include receiving Top Employer certification for US, Canada and Italy operations for the third consecutive year.
The company also expanded its Employee Impact Groups to nine, adding new communities focused on mental health and Hispanic leadership.
Additionally, Brightstar became the first supplier to earn the National Council on Problem Gambling's Internet Compliance Assessment Program Ready certification for its iLottery operations.
The report follows a period of steady operational activity for Brightstar, including a 7% year-on-year revenue rise in Q3 to $629m, contract extensions in key markets such as Texas, and expanded partnerships in Europe, including a renewed instant-games deal with Czech operator Sazka.
Environmental initiatives included introducing life-cycle assessments for terminal development and repurposing approximately 700,000 printing cartridges in Italy, preventing roughly 280 tons of plastic waste.
