The President of Loterj, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, has highlighted the role of sport as a catalyst for social transformation following his participation in the Permanent Christmas program organized by Brazilian Legion of Good Will (LBV).
Permanent Christmas is a long-running social program run by LBV, focused on supporting vulnerable children, young people and families throughout the year, not only during the Christmas season.
Founded in 1950, LBV operates nationwide in social assistance, education and humanitarian initiatives in community-based development across Brazil.
Cançado described the visit as a "meaningful encounter with young athletes whose achievements reflect the broader impact of sport beyond competition."
According to Cançado, the athletes represent examples of discipline, resilience and personal growth, both on and off the mat.
He stressed that sport has played a positive role not only in their athletic development, but also in strengthening family bonds, values and long-term perspectives.
The event also included the participation of Major Michelle Fialho, from the Social Communication Superintendency of the Police Pacification Coordination.
Cançado highlighted her work in fostering closer ties between the Military Police and local communities, particularly through initiatives that support young athletes and enable their participation in international competitions.
He noted that these actions demonstrate how public institutions can generate meaningful social impact when operating with clear purpose and sensitivity.
Cançado reiterated that Loterj has been supporting projects focused on youth inclusion, especially in vulnerable communities.
Loterj has planned to position Rio de Janeiro as a potential hub for integrated resorts and large-scale entertainment projects, but legal uncertainty around land-based casinos continues to limit concrete investment plans
