SJM Resorts has taken direct management of the casino at Macau's L'Arc Hotel, completing a structural shift that follows the broader withdrawal of satellite casinos from the market, according to Macao Daily.
Indeed, this decision follows SJM's acquisition and subsequent operational approval for Casino L'Arc, obtained last week. A ceremony was held yesterday afternoon, where SJM Chair and Executive Director Angela Leong said L'Arc's location and operational base make it an important asset for the group. With the new arrangement in place, the casino has expanded its table count to more than 100. Staffing levels remain unchanged.
Industry observers noted that the strengthened gaming floor is expected to attract former patrons of nearby satellite casinos. Most of these venues have now ended operations. Gaming tables retrieved from those locations have been reassigned to SJM properties including Grand Lisboa, Lisboa, Grand Lisboa Palace, Oceanus and L'Arc. Tables from the recently closed Place Arcada Casino were also redistributed to SJM's directly operated venues.
Leong said SJM ultimately decided not to proceed with acquiring Ponte 16, a decision formally announced last month. She stated that the group had reviewed its resources and concluded that L'Arc was more suitable for its overall planning and provided more immediate operational gains.
As part of an official statement, SJM said it will continue to develop L'Arc by improving accommodation, dining and support facilities. The group added that it aims to strengthen visitor flow between L'Arc and nearby Lisboa-brand properties in order to support Macau's position as a world center of tourism and leisure and contribute to gradual economic diversification.
The transition became effective at 2am and marked L'Arc's first day as a fully self-operated SJM venue
