Paddy Power has disclosed the results of two charity-linked initiatives connected to the 2025 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, confirming total donations exceeding £1.1m ($1.4m) across multiple causes.
The operator said it donated £1,000 for every 180 scored during the tournament under its "Even Bigger 180" campaign, generating a total contribution of £1,127,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.
The donation was formally presented by former Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy at the conclusion of the event.
Separately, Paddy Power confirmed a €15,000 donation to the Cure ADOA Foundation after darts player Ryan Searle reached the semi-finals of the competition.
The operator altered its Alexandra Palace branding during the later stages of the tournament to highlight awareness of Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy (ADOA), a rare inherited eye condition that causes progressive vision loss and affects Searle.
The bookmaker said the initiative aimed to raise visibility of the condition while supporting related medical research. Searle has previously spoken publicly about competing at the highest level of darts while managing the condition.
The announcements come during a period of heightened scrutiny for Paddy Power and sister brand Betfair, both of which operate under Flutter Entertainment.
Earlier this month, the two brands agreed to pay a £2m settlement following a Gambling Commission investigation into social responsibility failures across their UK-facing online betting and casino operations.
The regulator identified multiple breaches of the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice between August 2023 and May 2024, including failures to adequately identify and respond to indicators of harm among customers.
While no formal fine was imposed, the settlement was described by the Commission as reflecting the seriousness of the shortcomings.
Paddy Power has historically been active in high-profile charity-linked marketing campaigns, particularly around major sporting events. However, regulators have repeatedly stressed that charitable activity does not offset the requirement for operators to meet strict consumer protection standards.
The Gambling Commission said earlier this month that licensees must demonstrate sustained improvements in monitoring, intervention and governance, regardless of wider corporate or community initiatives.
Paddy Power and Betfair merged in 2015 to form Flutter Entertainment, now one of the world's largest listed gambling groups by revenue and market capitalisation
