The New York State Gaming Commission has released its September 2025 results, revealing a strong month for both casino gaming and mobile sports wagering.
The state's mobile sports betting handle reached $2.29bn - its second-highest on record and a 10.4% year-on-year increase - while total casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) rose 3.1% to $57.6m.
Slot handle totalled $507.9m, a 2.9% rise from the previous year, generating $40.7m in GGR. Table game drop stood at $68.3m, up from $14.3m to $15.2m in GGR, while poker revenue was reported at $0.8m.
Net revenue to operators totalled $43.7m, and state tax contributions were just under $14m.
In sports betting, the $2.29bn handle represents an 11.9% month-on-month rise and the highest level recorded so far in the 2025-26 fiscal year. Despite the strong handle, GGR of $193.8m reflected a 5.4% decline compared to September 2024.
Among operators, FanDuel and DraftKings continued to lead the market, though results varied.
DraftKings reported a handle of $870.6m and GGR of $66.7m, while FanDuel's handle reached $790.4m but generated higher GGR at $77.6m. Despite these strong results, both operators saw year-on-year declines in revenue.
Fanatics, meanwhile, posted a notable surge, reporting a handle of $219m - up 52.9% year-on-year - and a 142.9% increase in GGR to $20.4m, solidifying its position as New York's third-largest operator.
With the NFL season underway and several strong performers across the market, the Empire State's betting sector looks set for a buoyant close to the year despite fluctuating margins among leading sportsbooks.
The latest figures arrive as New York's gaming landscape continues to evolve. Earlier this month, the state's Gaming Facility Location Board confirmed it will decide by 1 December which of four casino development proposals will secure one of the three available New York City-area licenses.
