Reasonable growth overall disguises a lot of fluctuation in Pennsylvania's gaming revenue figures for September.

Compared to the same time last year, iGaming slots revenue has risen hugely year-over-year - where previously the sector garnered $132m in revenue, it has now reached $181m.

This means the game type remains the second most effective revenue channel in the state, but it brings it far closer to retail slots in first place.

Retail slots retained its top spot despite having produced 1.51% less revenue than in September 2024.

For sports wagering it has been a month to forget with revenue down from $54m to $30m.

Revenue with sports betting can prove more variable than other game types due to the less consistent outcomes of sporting events in the short-term - this is borne out in the fact that total handle actually increased by 4.8% to $850.5m.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) breaks down the results of the various casino operators in the state.

Results show that Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course had the most successful month, raising an overall $102m in revenue, an improvement of 23%.

At the same time last year, Valley Forge was the most successful, but was pushed into second place last month.

This growth was massively driven by its iGaming offerings which generated $88m.

All of this activity in the state created a total tax revenue of $228m for the month.
