The Australian Communications and Media Authority has requested that internet service providers block a further 19 illegal online gambling and affiliate marketing websites found to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The latest sites subject to blocking orders include Bass Bet, BetWhale, CasinOK, Cleobetra, Diva Spin, FatPirate, Free Spinz, Gransino, JackBit, Legiano, Mafia Casino, Magius, Monster Win, NewLucky, Nonbetstop.com, Slotexo, Talismania, Tiki Casino and Vegas Hero.

Website blocking forms part of a broader enforcement framework aimed at protecting Australian consumers from unlawful online gambling services.

Since issuing its first blocking request in November 2019, the regulator has overseen the blocking of 1,640 illegal gambling and affiliate websites. In addition, more than 230 illegal services have withdrawn from the Australian market since strengthened enforcement of online gambling rules began in 2017.

The regulator reiterated that many illegal gambling websites are designed to appear legitimate and may actively target Australian players. However, such services are not licensed domestically and do not provide the consumer safeguards required under Australian law.

Unlawful online services include online slots, casino-style games such as poker, blackjack and roulette, scratchcards, in-play sports betting and betting or lottery services that are not licensed to operate in Australia.

Consumers are encouraged to verify whether a wagering provider is authorised by consulting the official register of licensed services before engaging with any online gambling platform.
