A total of 130 front desk workers at Mandalay Bay have voted in favor of joining the Teamsters Local 986 union.

Mandalay Bay is an integrated resort on the Las Vegas Strip that is owned by Vici Properties and operated by MGM Resorts International.

A spokesperson from Teamsters commented that: “With this victory, the Teamsters now have wall-to-wall representation at the property.”

The front desk workers joined Teamsters to secure higher pay, better benefits and a stronger voice in the workplace.

Tommy Blitsch, Teamsters Convention, Trade Show, and Casino Division Director, said: "We're building power across the casino industry, and workers are stepping up because they know the Teamsters fight and deliver.

"This victory at Mandalay Bay is part of a growing movement of hospitality workers demanding respect, security, and a stronger future."

Officially known as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the organization was formed in 1903 and is one of the largest and most prominent unions in the US.

Teamsters Local 986 was responsible for a workers' strike at Rio Hotel & Casino late last year that saw almost 100 employees speak up about unfair labor practices.

Tim Vera, Local 986 President, said: "Front desk workers are the face of the property and the heartbeat of the guest experience.

"These workers deserve strong representation and a contract that reflects the value they bring every single day. Local 986 is proud to welcome them into our family, and we're ready to fight alongside them for the future they deserve."

Earlier this year, employees at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi, currently owned and operated by Bally’s Corporation, voted to join Teamsters Local 891.

Sylvia Hinojosa, a Guest Front Services Representative, said: "We joined the Teamsters to win a fair contract and have a stronger voice on the job.

"Being a Teamster means having the representation, protections, and benefits we deserve, and I'm proud to stand with my co-workers in this fight."
