Melco Resorts Foundation Corporation (MRP Foundation), the corporate social responsibility arm of City of Dreams Manila, has funded the P20m ($330,000) rehabilitation of Sunshine Park in Baguio, supporting the redevelopment of one of the city's best-known public spaces.

The upgraded park was formally inaugurated in late May during a ceremony attended by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, MRP Foundation Vice President Armin Antonio B. Raquel Santos, local government officials and community stakeholders.

The redevelopment preserved several of Sunshine Park's original features, including its stage, ramp and drop-off area, while introducing upgraded pathways, landscaped green spaces, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic areas and additional public amenities.

The project also includes a new public art installation, Language of Photography, created by Baguio-based artist Clinton Aniversario.

Construction began in March 2025 and was carried out by the Baguio City Government under its Adopt-a-Park Program, with the project fully funded through MRP Foundation's donation.

Clarence Chung, President of MRP Foundation and Chairman and President of Melco Resorts and Entertainment Corporation, said the initiative reflects the organisation's commitment to supporting public spaces that promote community wellbeing, recreation and social interaction.

Mayor Magalong said the redevelopment was informed by years of observing how residents use the park, alongside consultations with educational institutions, artists and community organisations.

He added that the project also supports the city's broader sustainability objectives, including future improvements to the nearby Tree Park.

The Sunshine Park project forms part of MRP Foundation's wider programme supporting environmental, educational, cultural and public safety initiatives. Earlier this year, the foundation funded the P50m redevelopment of People's Park in Caloocan City and donated P9.9m worth of security equipment and vehicles to the Philippine National Police National Capital Region Police Office.

The announcement comes as City of Dreams continues to expand its presence beyond gaming through broader brand and community initiatives.

Earlier this year, for example, the integrated resort launched its new global brand platform, Be A Dreamer, highlighting art, culture and immersive experiences across its properties. Elsewhere, City of Dreams Sri Lanka has also continued to broaden its non-gaming offering with the launch of The Grand Pâtisserie Affair, reflecting Melco's wider focus on lifestyle and destination experiences.
