The gaming sector once again confirmed its leading position in Spanish e-commerce during the fourth quarter of 2025, emerging as the industry with the highest number of online transactions, according to the latest report from the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC).
Gaming accounted for 9.1% of the more than 575 million online transactions recorded in the quarter, making it the most active sector by transaction volume.
Meanwhile, total e-commerce turnover in Spain reached €31.42bn ($35.88bn), up 22% year on year, while full-year revenue exceeded €114.8bn for the first time, representing annual growth of 20.6%.
The CNMC report also showed that gaming remained among the top sectors by business volume, ranking fifth overall behind travel agencies, clothing, financial intermediation services and air transport.
Overall, the sector continues to stand out as one of the most dynamic areas of Spanish e-commerce, combining high transaction volumes with consistent commercial relevance.
Spanish regulator DGOJ recently released its Q1 2026 online gambling market report, showing GGR of €454.2m. This represents a 13.9% year-on-year increase, despite a 6.5% decline from the previous quarter.
Online casino remained the largest segment, accounting for 54.56% of total GGR. Revenue reached €247.8m, up 21.77% year-on-year and 2.44% quarter-on-quarter.
Meanwhile, sports betting generated GGR of €174.5m, up 5.1% from the same period last year, although revenue fell 17.2% from the previous quarter.
For the full year 2025, online GGR reached €1.7bn, representing a 16.99% increase compared with the previous year.
Online casino gaming generated €893m in GGR. The vertical accounted for 52.51% of total market revenue and recorded year-on-year growth of 22.15%.
